About the Indonesian Rupiah
Rupiah banknotes come in 1,000, 2,000, 5,000, 10,000, 20,000, 50,000 and 100,000 (the 2022 series is current). Like the dong, it is a many-zeros currency — keep "10,000 rupiah ≈ 90–100 yen" in mind.
Cards work at Bali resorts, but warungs, markets, temple entrance fees and tips call for cash. Small notes of 2,000, 5,000 and 10,000 rupiah are precious for tips and change. ATMs thin out on smaller islands, so bringing enough cash is the safe play.
